How to Dress for Video Meetings

Updated: May 11, 2020

Video meetings have been there for quite a while, but these days their volume has suddenly became huge - it i not only business people anymore that meet online, but also many other professionals such as doctors, teachers, various consultants and of course fitness instructors.

How to dress for online meetings? If you have a specific work attire such as business suit, medical or athletic wear that is of course exactly what you need to wear. But how to dress for an online meeting if you have more casual and vague dress code for your type of work?

First of all, forget about your “home” clothes such as an old faded t-shirt or an ugly hoodie. You don’t have to wear a business suit, but wear something nice and refreshing, something that makes you look sharp and goes well with your body type and skin complexion. And of course dress season appropriately - a cute springy top would work much better this spring rather than a thick cozy winter sweater (adjust your room temperature to a comfort level).

Hairstyle and your skin‘s look is essential! Don’t go to an online meeting with unkempt hair or oily skin - style your hair as if you were going to a live meeting and apply make up if you usually wear make up (you don’t have to apply any make-up if you usually go with a naked face of course, but make sure your skin is clean and clear).

Final touches - don’t forget about earrings and necklaces if you are usually wearing those. Bottoms - for an online meeting they are not as important as tops of but make sure they are appropriate and matching your whole look. Pajama pants are very dangerous! One wrong move and they can be seen by a person on the other side of a monitor. As always, please feel free to ask me any questions!
